Home Library Services
Adelaide City Council is proud to offer the Library Homebound Service. The service is free to all City residents who are unable to visit our libraries.
While the Adelaide City Council’s library staff oversee the service, our trained and friendly volunteers select and deliver library materials to you or your carer right to your door.

Who is entitled to the Homebound Service?
To be eligible for the Library Homebound Service you must be a resident of the Adelaide City Council area and unable to visit our libraries due to sickness (short or long term), frailty, disability, incapacity or you maybe unable to physically carry items home. Once your library requirements have been assessed we can arrange for a regular delivery via our Library volunteers.
Volunteers
Volunteers are vital to the success of our Homebound program and a key ingredient in providing a wonderful service to the community. Our friendly volunteers select items on your behalf and deliver your library materials to you. The Library Homebound Service can be an eagerly anticipated activity. For your safety our volunteers are all police checked.
Library Membership
In order to receive the Library Homebound Service, you must become a library member and this can be arranged when we visit you to set up the service. Your membership means that you can borrow books (small & large print), DVDs, CDs, videos & magazines. We have over 7000 large print books and over 1000 audio books for the print impaired. With such a large range we’re sure we have something to appeal to you.
